ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a process for coat- ing surfaces of prebaked carbon articles operating at high temperatures in oxidizing atmosphere by applying a vitreous layer of beric anhydride thereto inhibiting the oxidization process, including the following steps: preparing the pre- baked carbon articles making a water solution of ammonium berate; applying said water solution to the surfaces of said carbon articles and finally drying the above mentioned solution.
