The operation of marine diesel engines is improved through use of a defined fuel composition, containing one or more additives comprising a methal detergent, a non-metal detergent or both. The fuel is supplied to Diesel engines which operate in a maximum speed range of 1000 rpm (4-stroke engine) respectively 2500 rpm (2-stroke engine). The power output is greater than 200 bph. The cylinder bore is greater than 100 mm (2-stroke engine) while the piston stroke shall be greater than 150 mm (4-stroke engine) respectively greater than 120 mm (2-stroke engine). The metal containing detergent is a neutral calcium sulfonate, salicylate or calcium phenate. The non-metal containing detergent is a hydrocarbyl succinimide.

L'invention concerne l'exploitation de moteurs diesel marins, améliorée grâce à l'utilisation d'une composition combustible déterminée, contenant un ou plusieurs additifs comprenant un détergent métallique, un détergent non métallique ou les deux. Le combustible est injecté dans des moteurs diesel fonctionnant à une vitesse maximale de 1000 rpm (moteur à quatre temps) ou de 2500 rpm (moteur à deux temps). La puissance de sortie est supérieure à 200 bph. L'alésage est supérieur à 150 mm (moteur à quatre temps) ou à 100 mm (moteur à deux temps) alors que la course du piston est supérieure à 150 mm (moteur à quatre temps) ou à 120 mm (moteur à deux temps). Le détergent contenant du métal est un sulfonate ou un salicylate de calcium neutre, ou bien un phénate de calcium. Le détergent ne contenant pas de métal est un succinimide d'hydrocarbyle.
