Image (57) Abstract The invention relates to a process for optimising fuel combustion with the minimum CO emission by the prior introduction into the fuel air mixture of a fluid vapour containing water and/or alcohol and by producing a uniform fluid-fuel mixture. In ad- dition, too invention relates to a device for implementing said process. To save considerable quantities of petrol and reduce car- bon monoxide emission, it is proposed to add a vaporous fluid to the air-fuel mixture in a turbulent flow field in order to obtain the smallest possible drops of fuel and to maintain them until combustion. This is done by means of a liquid atomisor which meters drops of liquid into an atomiser-eddy chamber where they encounter a fuel or fuel-sir mixture. The vapour cloud consists either largely of distilled water to which has been added a weak, dilute organic acid and alcohol or of a mixture of equal parts of water, methanol and small quantities of glycerine on the one hand and a methanol-oil mixture on the other.
