Abstract of the disclosure: A process for preparing thermosetting powder coating composition which comprises the steps of: A) dispersing a pigment in a solution of a copolymer dissolved in an organic solvent having a boiling point of 70 to 160° C, said copolymer comprising at least one of hydroxyalkyl acrylates and methacrylates having the formula Image wherein R1 is hydrogen or methyl and R2 is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl and at least one of ethylenically monounsaturated compounds, B) heating the resulting pigment dispersion at a temperature of 170 to 220°C under a reduced pressure to separate the solvent from the solid component, and C) mixing an amino resin with the solid component, at an elevated temperature of lower than 140° C. - 1 -
