In the process for making calcium carbonate by the double decomposition reaction of sodium carbonate and calcium hydroxide in aqueous reaction medium the improvement of producing calcium carbonate having a scalenohedral particle shape and a rosette aggregate structure comprising adding said sodium carbonate in more than one stream to said calcium hydroxide over a period of 1 to 8 hours and maintaining said reaction medium in the range of 80 to 140 F.

Divulgation d'une amélioration du procédé de fabrication du carbonate de calcium par la réaction de double décomposition du carbonate de sodium et de l'hydroxyde de calcium dans un milieu de réaction aqueux. Le procédé consiste à produire des particules de carbonate de calcium en forme de scalénohèdre qui s'agglomèrent en rosette, en ajoutant le carbonate de sodium dans plus d'un courant à l'hydroxyde de calcium pendant une période de 1 à 8 heures et en maintenant le milieu de réaction à une température entre 80 et 140 degrés F.
