A b s t r a c t A process eor preparing 1,1,1-trifluoro-2,2-dichloroethane by hydrofluorination, in the gas phase, of perchloroethylene in the presence of a catalyst comprising chrome oxides support ed on AlF3 in the gamma and/or beta form. * * * This invention relates to a process for preparing 1,1,1- trifluoro-2,2-dichloroethane hy hydrofluorination, in the gas phase, of perchloroethylene in the presence of a catalyst compris- ing Cr203 supported on A1F3. Well known is the requirement of having available industrial processes for preparing 1,1,1-trifluoro-2,2-dichloroethane with good yields. It is well known how to prepare 1,1,1-trifluoro-2,2-dichloro- ethane starting from perchloroethylene in the presence of cata- lysts based on Cr2O3. See for example Italian patent application 24689 A/78 and US patent 3,755,477.
