The invention provides a process for preparing 1,2-propanediol, by reacting glycerol which has a purity of at least 95% by weight with hydrogen at a hydrogen pressure of from 20 to 100 bar and a temperature of from 180 to 240°C in the presence of a catalyst which comprises from 10 to 50% by weight of copper oxide and from 50 to 90% by weight of zinc oxide in an autoclave.
L'invention a pour objet un procédé de fabrication de 1,2-propanediol, selon lequel de la glycérine, présentant une pureté supérieure ou égale à 95 % en poids, est mise en réaction dans une autoclave avec de l'hydrogène à une pression d'hydrogène comprise entre 20 et 100 bars et à une température comprise entre 180 et 240 °C, en présence d'un catalyseur comprenant de 10 à 50 % en poids d'oxyde de cuivre et de 50 à 90 % en poids d'oxyde de zinc.
