ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a process for pre- paring compounds represented by the following formula: Image wherein R is selected from hydrogen, lower alkyl, substituted lower alkyl, unsaturated lower alkyl, substituted unsaturated lower alkyl and aralkyl; and X is O or S. The compounds prepared according to the process of the present invention possess a high degree of pharmacological activities such as anti-inflammatory, anti-ulcerative, anal- getic, antipyretic, antihistaminic and central nervous system depressive activities, and certain of them are useful as new anti-inflammatory agents, analgesics and central nervous system depressants.
