ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The invention relates to a process for preparing a compound of structure (4): Image (4) which comprises reacting a compound of structure (3): Image (3) with ethyl carbazate (H2NNHCO2C2H5), characterized in that the reaction is carried out under aqueous conditions and the compound of structure (3) is in the form of an acid-addition salt. This process can be readily carried out, gives high yields, is carried out at relatively low temperatures and gives rise to a particularly pure product.
