ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention disclosed is a process for the production of a cellular thermosetting foam provided on at least one surface with a reinforcing and fireresisting layer of particulate material. A foamable composition is distributed on a suitable substrate surface and a layer of particulate material is evenly distributed on the surface of said composition prior to complete curing. As inexpensive material such as sand or gravel may be used, the process is economic and easy to apply it can be used for the production of slabs of cellular plastic or of foam layers with a protective coating on e.g. wall panels, roofs, insulating material and the like.
