A PROCESS FOR PREPARING A COKED ZEOLITE CATALYST AND A PROCESS FOR THE SELECTIVE DISPROPORTIONATION OF TOLUENE USING SAID CATALYST ABSTRACT A zeolite such as ZSM-5 is coked by contacting it with a thermally decomposable organic compound at a temperature less than 1200°Fat controlled liquid hourly space velocity of between 0.5 and 3.5 to deposit between 2 and 60 percent of coke therein. The coked zeolite is effective in disproportionating toluene to para-xylene.
