Un amide d'.alpha.-aminoacide est préparé par réaction d'un N .alpha. -aryloxycarbonyl-aminoacide avec un composé comportant un groupement amino libre. Ce procédé permet de préparer facilement des peptides, par réaction directe entre le groupement carboxyle du dérivé N .alpha. -aryloxycarbonyle d'un aminoacide et le groupement amino libre d'un deuxième aminoacide ou d'un fragment peptidique, sans nécessiter de protection de la fonction carboxyle du deuxième aminoacide ou du fragment peptidique, ni d'agent de couplage ni d'étape de déprotection.
