A process for producing an aromatic dicarboxylic acid by simple operations using a simple apparatus is disclosed, which enables to effect separation and washing of the product crystals efficiently without suffering from clogging of the apparatus, while permitting recovery of the reaction solvent and catalyst with permission of an efficient replacement of the solvent. According to the present invention, an aromatic dicarboxylic acid is produced by effecting, in the oxidation reactor 1, a liquid phase oxidation of an aromatic compound having substituent groups of alkyl(s) or partly oxidized alkyl(s) in a reaction solvent containing a catalyst with a molecular oxygen-containing gas, wherein the slurry containing the crystals of the aromatic dicarboxylic acid from a slurry receiver 4 or from a purification reactor 7 is introduced into a centrifuge 5a or 5b provided in its solid matter delivery zone with a filtering region to subject it to a centrifugation in order to separate it into the crystals and a separated liquid, whereupon the so-separated crystals are filtered in the filtering region on their way of travelling across the solid matter delivery zone while contacting them with a washing liquid and discharging the spent washing liquid from the filtering region.

L'invention porte sur une méthode de production d'acide aromatique dicarboxylique, par un procédé et un appareil de grande simplicité, permettant de séparer et de laver efficacement les cristaux produits, sans bouchage de l'appareil, et en même temps de récupérer le solvant et le catalyseur de la réaction, rendant possible le remplacement effectif du solvant. Selon la présente invention, un acide aromatique dicarboxylique est produit par oxydation en phase liquide, dans le réacteur d'oxydation 1, d'un composé aromatique portant des groupes substituants de type alkyle ou alkyle partiellement oxydé dans un solvant de réaction contenant un catalyseur avec un gaz renfermant de l'oxygène moléculaire; le coulis contenant les cristaux d'acide aromatique dicarboxylique provenant d'un récepteur de coulis 4 ou d'un réacteur de purification 7 est introduit dans une centrifugeuse 5a ou 5b comportant une partie filtrante dans une zone transporteuse de solides; le coulis est centrifugé de façon à séparer les cristaux et le liquide; la filtration des cristaux séparés est effectuée dans la partie filtrante pendant le passage des cristaux dans la zone transporteuse, où ils sont en même temps lavés au contact avec un liquide de lavage; le liquide de lavage usé est évacué hors de la zone filtrante.
