Disclosed is a process for preparing bovine pericard material by subjecting raw bovine pericard tissue to operations of wet-chemical processing, oxidative bleaching, washing out, de-greasing, drying and sterilizing, wherein the collagen contained in the bovine pericard is worked up by way of a definite sequence of process steps. The bovine pericard material obtained by the process according to the invention can be advantageously employed for implants and transplants in human and veterinary medicine.
