ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process is disclosed for the preparation of capped polyoxyalkylene block polyethers by sequential oxyalkylation of an initiator molecule with ethylene oxide and one or more higher alkylene oxide, and subsequent capping. According to the invention, the use of cesium hydroxide catalysis during the oxyethylation step permits to reduce the number of insaturation formed during both phases of the oxyalkylation and thus to obtain final products with an exceptionally low hydroxyl number and correspondingly a high capping efficiency.
