ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION Unsaturated carbamoyloxy carboxylates having low color are produced by reacting hydroxylalkyl carbamates such as N-methyl 2-hydroxy- ethyl carbamate with acrylic or methacrylic acid in contact with a lower alkoxy substituted phenolic or alkylated alkoxyphenolic polymerization inhibitor at a critical low reaction temperature of 40°C. to 80°C. Novel unsaturated carbamoyloxy carboxylates are also disclosed.
