ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Carbonyl sulfide is prepared with an enhanced purity by a process wherein carbon monoxide is caused to bubble through molten sulfur maintained at a temperature of from 300° to 440°; and, the resulting gaseous mixture is maintained at a reaction temperature exceeding 510°C but not higher than 650°C.
