Abstract of the Disclosure A process for preparing a catalyst component for the polymerization of olefins which comprises the steps of contacting (a) a magnesium dialkoxide soluble in an inert solvent, (b) a silicon compound having the hydrogen-silicon bond, and (c) an electron donor compound with one another in the presence of an inert solvent, and contacting the resulting reaction product with (d) a titanium compound.
