A process for the preparation of a cellulosic fibrous aggregate, comprising a softening stage, a dewatering stage and a curing stage, whereby in the softening stage a section of cellulosic fibrous material is exposed to the action of a liquid aqueous softening agent at elevated temperature and at a pressure of at least the equilibrium vapour pressure of the softening agent at the operating temperature, and whereby part of the heat required to raise the temperature of the starting material to the operating temperature of the softening stage, is obtained, by heat-exchange contact, from an aqueous stream, the initial temperature of which is substantially equal to the said operating temperature.

Cette invention concerne la préparation d'un agrégat fibreux cellulosique selon un procédé comprenant une étape d'adoucissement, une étape de déshydratation et une étape de cuisson. Le matériau fibreux cellulosique est exposé, en première étape, à l'action d'un agent adoucisseur liquide porté à haute température sous une pression au moins égale à sa pression de vapeur d'équilibre à la température de consigne, une partie de la chaleur nécessaire à l'élévation de la température de la matière première à la température de consigne de l'étape adoucissement étant obtenue par échangeurs de chaleur alimentés en eau chaude dont la température initiale est sensiblement égale à ladite température de consigne.
