ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved process or method for the preparation of phar- maceutical grade biologically and physiologically "active" chondroitin sulfate, predominantly chondroitin sulfate A, chondroi- tin sulfate C, and mixtures thereof from source material compris- ing forming a solution from the source material containing said "active" material, adding thereto a complexing agent to form a precepitate which is a water insoluble complex of the active material and the complexing agent, and breaking said complex to recover the pharmaceutical grade "active" material.
