his invention involves an improved procedure for preparing liquid phase citral from prenol and prenal in which, in the same reaction container, the prenal and prenol are condensed in the presence of a mineral acid to a concentration of about 5.10-3 mole for one mole of prenal; 90 to 90% of the acid introduced is neutralized and after the excess prenal and prenol have been removed, the citral is distilled.

La présente invention concerne un procede amélioré de préparation du citral en phase liquide à partir de prénol et de prénal dans lequel, dans une même enceinte réactionnelle, on condense le prénal et le prénol en présence d'un acide minéral à une concentration d'environ 5.10-3 mole pour une mole de prénal, on neutralise 90 à 95 % de l'acide introduit et après élimintation du prénal et du prénol excédentaire, on distille le citral.
