The present invention is directed to fluoroalkyl vinyl compounds of the formula: R f CF=CH2 (I) wherein R f is a fluoroalkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms. The compounds of the present invention are prepared in a high yield by reacting a fluoroalkyl vinyl halide of the formula: R f CF=CHX (II) or R f CF=CX2 (III) wherein Rf is the same as defined above, and X is a chlorine atom, a bromine atom or an iodine atom with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst.
