ABSTRACT The present invention provides a process for preparing a quanidine derivative of the formula (II): Image (III) wherein R denotes lower alkyl, which comprises reacting a disulfide derivative of the formula (I): Image (I) wherein R is as defined above, with a diacetyl derivative of the formula (II): Image (II) wherein X is halogen, in the presence of a thiol derivative and a basic compound.
