A process for preparing halogenated .beta.-lactam compounds, characterized in that a .beta.-lactam amino compound of the formula (1) is reacted with nitrous acid or nitrite in a slurry dispersion state in water, under acid condition in the presence of halogen molecules, thereby obtaining a halogenated .beta.-lactam compound of the formula (4) (see formula 1) (see formula 2) (see formula 3) wherein n is an integer of 0 to 2; A is the formula (2) or (3) ; R1 and R2 are the same or different and are hydrogen atom, halogen atom, C1~C3 alkyl group, C2~C4 alkenyl group, C2 ~C4 alkynyl group, nucleophilic group, or CH2R3; and R3 is halogen atom or nucleophilic group (see formula 4) wherein A is as defined above; X1 is hydrogen atom or halogen atom; and X2 is halogen atom.

L'invention concerne un procédé de préparation d'un composé de beta -lactame halogéné représenté par la formule générale (4). Ce procédé est caractérisé en ce qu'on fait réagir un composé amino dérivé de beta -lactame représentée par la formule générale (1) avec de l'acide nitreux ou un nitrite en présence de molécules halogènes dans des conditions acides tout en maintenant les réactifs dans un état de suspension aqueuse afin d'obtenir le composé cible. (1) n est un nombre entier compris entre 0 et 2; et A représente la formule (2) ou (3), dans lesquelles R<1> et R<2> sont identiques ou différents et sont chacun l'hydrogène, l'halogène, alkyle C1-3, alcényle C2-4, alcynyle C2-4, un groupe nucléophile, ou CH2R<3>, R<3> représentant halogéno ou un groupe nucléophile. A correspond aux descriptions ci-dessus; X<1> représente l'hydrogène ou halogéno; et X<2> représente halogéno.
