The present invention is directed to a process for preparing human factor VIII:C, which comprises cultivating a transformant, which is an animal cell transformed with an expression vector wherein a gene coding for human factor VIII:C is incorporated into the downstream side of a chick .beta.-actin promoter, to produce and accumulate human factor VIII:C in the culture, and collecting the produced human factor VIII:C, and a factor VIII:C expression plasmid and a factor VIII:C-producing transformant used therefor. The process of the present invention provides a high production efficiency of factor VIII:C and is useful for producing factor VIII:C on an industrial scale.
