A process is described for preparing a substrate for the transglycosylase enzymes of bacterial cell wall biosynthesis. The chemical synthesis makes available a sustainable and substantially pure source of supply of lipid II, including analogs thereof, that maybe used in the identification of new therapeutic agents capable of disrupting steps in bacterial cell wall biosynthesis.

L'invention se rapporte à un procédé de préparation d'un substrat pour les enzymes transglycosylases de la biosynthèse de parois de cellules bactériennes. La synthèse chimique permet d'obtenir une source renouvelable et sensiblement pure d'alimentation en lipides II, et notamment en analogues de lipides II, qui peuvent être utilisés pour l'identification de nouveaux agents thérapeutiques capables de produire des étapes perturbatrices dans le processus de biosynthèse de parois de cellules bactériennes.
