A process is disclosed for preparing ethylene polymers with a molecular weight Mw (weight average) lower than 20,000 g/mole at temperatures in a range from 200 to 280 ~C and pressures in a range from 1000 to 3500 bars in the presence of a catalyst system. The catalyst system used contains: (A) a non-bridged substituted or unsubstituted biscyclopentadienyl complex; (B) a metal compound of general formula (I) M1 (R1)r (R2)s (R3)t, in which M1 is an alkaline, an alkaline earth metal or a metal of the third main group of the periodic table; R1 is hydrogen, C1-C10-alkyl, C6-C15-aryl, alkylaryl or arylalkyl with 1 to 10 C atoms in the alkyl radical and 6 to 20 C atoms in the aryl radical; R2 and R3 independently represent hydrogen, halogen, C1-C10-alkyl, C6-C15-aryl, alkylaryl, arylalkyl or alkoxy with 1 to 10 C atoms in the alkyl radical and 6 to 20 C atoms in the aryl radical; r is an integer from 1 to 3; and s and t are integers from 0 to 2, the sum r+s+t corresponding to the valency of M1; and (C) a metallocene ion-forming compound selected in a group which consists of strong, neutral Lewis acids, ionic compounds with lewis acid cations and ionic compounds with Brönsted acids as cations. Components (A), (B) and (C) are mixed together and after at the latest 5 minutes are dosed in the reactor.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production de polymérisats d'éthylène dont le poids moléculaire M¿w? (moyenne pondérale) est inférieur à 20000 g/mole à des températures comprises entre 200 et 280 ·C, ainsi qu'à des pressions comprises entre 1000 et 3500 bar, en présence d'un système catalyseur. Le système catalyseur utilisé contient: (A) un complexe biscyclopentadiényle non ponté substitué ou non substitué, (B) un composé métal de la formule générale (I) M?1¿ (R?1¿)¿r? (R?2¿)¿s? (R?3¿)¿t?, dans laquelle M?1¿ désigne un métal alcalin, un métal alcalino-terreux ou un métal du troisième groupe principal de la classification périodique des éléments, R?1¿ désigne hydrogène, alkyle C¿1?-C¿10?, aryle C¿6?-C¿15?, alkylaryle ou arylalkyle ayant chacun entre 1 et 10 atomes de C dans le reste alkyle et entre 6 et 20 atomes de C dans le reste aryle, R?2¿ et R?3¿ désignent hydrogène, halogène, alkyle C¿1?-C¿10?, aryle C¿6?-C¿15?, alkylaryle, arylalkyle ou alcoxy comportant chacun 1 à 10 atomes de C dans le radical alkyle et 6 à 20 atomes de C dans le radical aryle, r vaut un nombre entier entre 1 et 3 et s et t valent des nombres entiers compris entre 0 et 2, la somme r+s+t correspondant à la valence de M?1¿, C) un composé formant des ions métallocène, sélectionné dans le groupe comprenant les acides de Lewis forts, neutres, des composés ioniques comportant pour cations des acides de Lewis et des composés ioniques comportant pour cations des acides de Brönsted. Les constituants (A), (B) et (C) sont mélangés conjointement, puis dosés dans un réacteur au plus 5 minutes après.
