A new process for preparing polymers or copolymers from methyl methacrylate (MMA) and modifying them by imidation of their ester functions using amines. The process consists in producing the basic polymer or copolymer from MMA by polymerizing it into beads; it is characterized by the fact that imidation is done on the said polymer or copolymer methyl methacrylate (PMMA) beads while they are in suspension in a non-solvent hydrophobic medium.

Procédé nouveau de préparation de polymères ou copolymères à base de méthacrylate de méthyle (MAM) modifié par imidation, à l'aide d'amine, des fonctions esters qu'ils comportent, ce procédé consistant a produire le polymère ou copolymère à base de MAM par polymérisation sous forme de perles et étant caractérisé en ce que l'imidation est effectuée sur lesdites perles de polymère ou copolymère de méthacrylate méthyle (PMAM) en suspension dans un agent non-solvant hydrophobe.
