A process for preparing monoesters comprises the step of reacting at least one diol with at least one carboxylic acid in a biphasic solvent system, the carboxylic acid being sufficiently water soluble to allow esterification to occur, and the biphasic solvent system comprising water and at least one aprotic solvent in which the resulting monoester has greater solubility than in water.

L'invention concerne un procédé de préparation de monoesters consistant à faire réagir au moins un diol avec au moins un acide carboxylique dans un système solvant biphasique, l'acide carboxylique étant suffisamment hydrosoluble afin de permettre l'estérification, le système solvant biphasqiue contenant de l'eau et au moins un solvant aprotique dans lequel le monoester obtenu présente une solubilité supérieure dans l'eau.
