ABSTRACT The invention is concerned with water dilutable binders for air drying coating compositions, the content of auxiliary organic solvent of which lies below 15 % of binder solids. One object of the invention is the use of such binders in the formulation of air drying paints which are useful for industrial applications for use by both professional and "do-it-yourself" painters. Another object is the formulation of force-drying coating composi- tions and, in conjunction with hardening components such as amine or phenolic resins, for stove paints. The binders consist of partial condensation products of:- (A) 30 - 70 % by weight of a film forming fatty acid modified alkyd resin intermediate with an acid value of be- tween 30 and 200 mg KOH/g, an intrinsic viscosity ?A of from 4.5 to 8 ml/g and an oil length of from 5 to 60 %, with (B) 70 - 30 % by weight of a film forming fatty acid modified alkyd resin intermediate with an acid valve of below 5 mg KOH/g, a hydroxyl value of from 50 to 300 mg KOH/g, an intrinsic viscosity ?B of from 8 to 12 ml/g and an oil length of from 5 to 60 %. the ratio between the intrisic viscosities Image lying between 1.4 to 2.7. Owing to the favourable gradient of the dilution curve, solutions are obtained which have a high solids content and are ready for application. PROCESS FOR PREPARING MONONITROCHLOROBENZENE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a process for the preparation of mono- nitrochlorobenzene by nitration of chlorobenzene using a mixed acid of nitric acid and phosphoric acid, the nitration reaction is carried out by using a molar ratio of nitric acid to chlorobenzene of not more than equimol in the presence of a concentrated phosphoric acid as the phosphoric acid component at temperatures of 50°-120°C while maintaining the concentration of phosphoric acid to 72.4 weight % as P2O5 or more during the reaction. - 1 -
