ABSTRACT PROCESS FOR PREPARING O-ALKYL S-(ALPHA-BRANCHEDD ALKYL) ALKYLPHOSPHONOTHIOATE Process for preparing an O-alkyl S-(alpha-branched alkyl) alkylphosohonothioate of the formula: Image wherein R and R1 are alkyl of 1 to 8 carbon atoms and R2 is alpha-branched alkyl of 3 to 8 carbon atoms which comprises reacting an O-(alkylalkylphosphonic acid halide with an alkyl mercaptan HSR2 in an organic medium, in the presence of an acid acceptor and a smaller amount of an auxiliary base.
