The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of olopatadine and, more particularly, to an improved method of synthesizing olopatadine which comprises reacting a dibenz [b,e] oxepin -1 1- one derivative of formula (III) and a suitable reagent under Witting condition, and to the intermediate 1 1 -[(Z)-3- (dimethylamino)-propylidene] -6- 1 1 -dihvdrodibenz[b,e]-oxepin-2-acet- amide p-toluensulfonate salt.

La présente invention a pour objet un procédé de préparation d'olopatadine et, plus particulièrement, une méthode améliorée de synthèse d'olopatadine qui comprend la réaction d'un dérivé de dibenz[b,e]oxépin-11-one de formule (III) et d'un réactif approprié dans des conditions de Witting.
