PROCESS FOR PREPARING OXIRANE COMPOUNDS Ethylenically unsaturated hydrocarbons having form 8 to 60 carbon atoms may be epoxidized with high yields by reaction with mixtures of acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide in the pre- sence of liquid, inert, aliphatic chlorinated hydrocarbons ha ving from 1 to 3 carbon atoms, whereof at least one is present in the form of a -CCl3, -CHCl2 or C=Cl2 group.
