ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process is provided for preparing polyolefins which comprises polymerizing or copolymerizing olefins using as catalysts a solid component containing a titanium compound and/or a vanadium compound, and an organoaluminum compound and/or an organozinc compound. The solid component is obtained by copulverizing (1) a magnesium dihalide and/or a manganese dihalide (2) an aluminum oxyhalide and (3) a titanium compound and/or a vanadium compound. The molecular weight distribution of the polyolefin prepared by this process is expanded to a substantially satisfactory extent.
