ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention concerns an improved precipitation pro- cess for the manufacture of coating powders based on polyamides with at least 10 aliphatically bound carbon atoms per carbonamide group. The process comprises rapid cooling of a hot ethanol solu- tion of the polyamide with stirring and distilling the solvent ethanol until the temperature of precipitation is reached in the range from 90 to 113°C. After passing the saturation limit (about 125°C), the outside temperature is kept at most 3°C below the temperature of the solution inside. The solution is kept at con- stant temperature (isothermal procedure) during the precipitation stage by further distillation of ethanol.
