The novel process for preparing pure hydrofluoric acid or pure hydrogen fluoride is characterized in that, after pretreatment by distillation/oxidation, a two- stage scrub is carried out using 65-90% strength by weight hydrofluoric acid and 90-100% strength by weight hydrofluoric acid and water is fed into the first or second scrubbing circuit and a corresponding amount of hydrofluoric acid is bled off to remove impurities.
