ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Process for preparing rotund particles of salt-coated magnesium or magnesium alloy, by adding molten magnesium or magnesium alloy to a substantially non-hygroscopic salt melt having a viscosity of from 1.5 to 5.0 cps containing at least 50% by weight of anhydrous alkali metal chloride, and having a density substantially the same as the density of the molten metal, stirring the molten metal and salt melt at a certain speed and temperature to obtain a dispersion of the molten metal in the salt melt containing up to 60% by weight of the molten metal, cooling the dispersion and disintegrating the resultant solid product.
