The present invention relates to a process for preparing substituted phenols. More specifically, it relates to the condensation of phenols having one or more alkyl substituents with a butadiene derivative comprising at least six carbon atoms, including myrcene and/or beta- springene. It also relates to the cyclization to chromanes of the products obtained from the condensation process and their hydrogenation to prepare vitamin E.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de préparation de phénols substitués. Elle concerne plus particulièrement la condensation de phénols porteurs d'un ou plusieurs substituants alkyle avec un dérivé du butadiène comportant au moins six atomes de carbone notamment le myrcène et/ou le .beta. springène. Elle concerne aussi la cyclisation sous formede chromanes des produits obtenus lors de cette condensation et leur hydrogénation pour préparer la vitamine E.
