The invention concerns a process for preparing a compound of formula (I): wherein R9 is selected from: C1-8 alkyl, C3-8 cycloalkyl, (CH2)nPh and (CH2)n heteroaryl wherein n = 0, 1 or 2, each of which groups may be optionally substituted on any carbon atom by one or more groups selected independently from: halogen, hydroxy, cyano, nitro, C1-4 alkoxy, C1-4 haloalkoxy, C1-4 alkanoyl, C1-4 haloalkanoyl, C1-4alkylsulphinyl, C1-4 haloalkylsulphinyl, C1-4 alkylsulphonyl, C1-4 haloalkylsulphonyl, C3-8cycloalkyl and C3-8 halocycloalkyl; and R9 can be hydrogen; which process comprises the reaction of a cyanoacetate of formula (II): wherein R9 is as defined above, with formaldehyde cyanohydrin and an inorganic base in a polar solvent at a temperature not exceeding 20~C.

L'invention a trait à un procédé permettant de préparer un composé représenté par la formule (I). Dans ladite formule : R9 est sélectionné parmi alkyle C1-8, cycloalkyle C3-8, hétéroaryle (CH2)nPh et (CH2)n, étant entendu que n = 0, 1 ou 2, chacun de ces groupes pouvant être éventuellement substitué sur un atome de carbone quelconque par un ou plusieurs groupes sélectionnés indépendamment parmi halogène, hydroxy, cyano, nitro, alcoxy C1-4, haloalcoxy C1-4, alcanoyle C1-4, haloalcanoyle C1-4, alkylsulfinyle C1-4, haloalkylsulfinyle C1-4, alkylsulfonyle C1-4, haloalkylsulfonyle C1-4, cycloalkyle C3-8 et halocycloalkyle C3-8 ; et R9 peut représenter hydrogène. Le procédé selon l'invention consiste à faire réagir un cyanoacétate représenté par la formule (II), dans laquelle R9 est tel que défini ci-dessus, avec une formaldéhyde-cyanohydrine et une base inorganique dans un solvant polaire, à une température ne dépassant pas 20 °C.
