- 28 - Abstract: Disclosed is a process for preparing a thermoplastic resin composition which comprises primary melting and kneading, based on the total amounts of the following components (a), (b), (c) and (d), (a) 56 to 99 % by weight of a polyphenylene ether, (b) 0.1 to 4.9 % by weight of a polyamide, (c) 0.1 to 90 % by weight of an impact modifier and (d) 0.01 to 10 % by weight of a compound having both of an unsaturated group and a polar group in the same molecule, to obtain an intermediate composition (A) in which an amount of unreacted Component (d) remained is made not more than 100 ppm, and secondary melting and kneading, based on the total amounts of the following components (A) and (B), (A) 10 to 80 % by weight of the intermediate composi- tion and (B) 20 to 90 % by weight of a polyamide.
