A process for producing toluene derivatives represented by general formula (2) (wherein R represents fluoro, chloro, alkoxy or alkylthio; and X represents halogeno), which comprises reacting a 2-chloro-6-substituted-toluene derivative represented by general formula (1) (wherein R is as defined above) with metallic magnesium in the presence of a lower-alkyl bromide in an ethereal solvent.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production de dérivés de toluène représentés par la formule générale (2), dans laquelle R représente fluoro, chloro, alcoxy ou alkylthio; et X représente halogéno. Ledit procédé consiste à faire réagir un dérivé 2-chloro-toluène substitué en position 6, représenté par la formule générale (1), (dans laquelle R est tel que défini ci-dessus) avec du magnésium métallique, en présence d'un bromure d'alkyle inférieur, dans un solvant éthéré.
