Procédé de préparation d'arylacétotrifluoroéthoxyphénylcétone caractérisé en ce que, dans une première étape, on met en présence un iodo ou un bromobenzène et du trifluoroéthanol en présence d'un sel de cuivre et d'une base forte dans un solvant aprotique polaire puis, dans une deuxième étape, on élimine le solvant aprotique polaire et on met en contact le résidu avec un acide ou un dérivé d'acide arylacétique au sein de l'acide fluorhydrique liquide. Ces composés sont utiles comme intermédiaires de synthèse dans l'industrie pharmaceutique ou phytosanitaire.
