Case 3-9697/GC 710+ Canada PROCESS FOR PREPARING WATER-DILUTABLE, HEAT-CURING COATING COMPOSITIONS Abstract of the Disclosure A process for preparing water-dilutable, heat-curing coating compositions comprises (a) reacting an aromatic poly- glycidyl ether with a polyethylene glycol in the presence of 0 to 20% of a polyhydric phenol, (b) adding an aminoplast cur- ing agent, and (c) diluting with water to give a stable aqueous composition. The process gives compositions which are useful in preparing coatings for a wide variety of substrates obviating the need for organic solvents with their inherent costs and environmental hazards.
