23443-450 Abstract of the Disclosure A method of preventing discoloration of a vinyl- acetoxysilane is disclosed. The method comprises admixing the vinylacetoxysilane with of from 25 to 500 ppm of a compound selected from the group consisting of 3,5-di-tert.-butylpyro- catechol, 2,6-di-tert.-butyl-4-methylphenol, 2-mercaptobenzimida- zole, and mixtures thereof. The vinylacetoxysilane so stabilized does not discolor for a long period of time, usually more than one year. Vinylacetoxysilanes, which are useful as crosslinking agents in the preparation of compositions curable to elastomers on contact with moisture normally discolor after a few days to a few weeks after being prepared, which limits their use.
