ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a process for producing a l-aminoalkane-l,l-diphosphonic acid having the general formula Image , wherein R represents a hydrocarbon radical containing 1 to 12 carbon atoms which comprises reacting a nitrile having the general formula R-CN, wherein R is as above with phosphorous acid at a temperature from 140 to 210°C.
