ABSTRACT A process for producing 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,2-dihydro- quinoline by the reaction of aniline with at least one member selected from the group consisting of acetone, diacetone alcohol and mesityl oxide, is described. The reaction is carried out in the presence of a catalyst comprising hydrogen fluoride and boron trifluoride.
