ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE 3-oxo-nitriles are produced by reacting carboxylic esters with carboxylic nitriles in the presence of a 70 to 80%, suspension of sodium hydride in white oil. They are interme- diate products for the production of 3-oxo-carboxylic acids and pesticides.
