A process for producing (R)-3-hydroxy-3-(2-phenylethyl)hexanoic acid characterized in that racemic 3-hydroxy-3-(2-phenylethyl)hexanoic acid is optically resolved by using an optically active amine represented by the following general formula (VIII): (VIII) wherein R2 represents 3,4- dimethoxyphenyl or 2-chlorophenyl. Thus, (R)-3-hydroxy-3-(2- phenylethyl)hexanoic acid useful as a material of drugs can be efficiently produced at a high optical purity and a relatively high total yield.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'acide (R)-3-hydroxy-3-(2-phényléthyl)hexanoïque, consistant à effectuer un dédoublement optique de l'acide 3-hydroxy-3-(2-phényléthyl)hexanoïque racémique à l'aide d'une amine optiquement active représentée par la formule générale (VIII) dans laquelle R?2¿ désigne du 3,4-diméthoxyphényle ou du 2-chlorophényle. Ainsi, l'acide (R)-3-hydroxy-3-(2-phényléthyl)hexanoïque peut être utilisé comme une substance médicamenteuse et produit en grandes quantités, avec une pureté optique élevée et un rendement total relativement élevé.
