In a process for producing a deicing/anti-icing fluid, a byproduct stream is obtained from a process that produces monoalkyl esters of long chain fatty acids. The stream includes water, glycerol, and an alkali-containing compound. The stream is converted to a deicing/anti-icing fluid by adding an acid to the stream to neutralize the alkali-containing compound to produce an alkali salt that functions as a supplemental freezing point depressant.

La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant de produire un fluide de dégivrage/antigivrage. Un flux de sous-produit est obtenu à partir d'un procédé qui consiste à produire des esters de monoalkyle d'acides gras à longue chaîne. Le flux contient de l'eau, du glycérol et un composé contenant des alcalis. Ce flux est transformé en un fluide de dégivrage/antigivrage par ajout d'un acide au flux afin de neutraliser le composé contenant des alcalis de manière à produire un sel alcalin qui fonctionne en tant qu'abaisseur du point de congélation supplémentaire.
