ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A low-molecular huminate fraction is obtained by so adding, to an aqueous suspension of products containing humin substance, an alkaline reacting substance while stirring that the pH value of 7 is not exceeded, whereupon the suspension is fur- ther stirred until the pH value is constant. The suspension is then allowed to settle and the solution which is substantially free from solids is separated and centrifuged. The purified solution thus obtained is then subjected to ultrafiltration.
